Constructed circa 1904, this Los Feliz residence stands as one of the neighborhood's oldest houses, built on farmland at the base of Griffith Park steeped in history and cultural significance. The house had been fragmented by prior renovations – obscuring the soul of an exceptional home.
Taking a rigorous look at the history of the place, the studio sought to bring the house back to its Spanish style roots, simultaneously honoring its rich heritage while creating a timeless contemporary sensibility.
The thoughtfully considered renovation reimagines the home's entire spatial sequence, creating an intuitive flow where each room transitions effortlessly into the next. New entryways frame connections to an idyllic courtyard, elevating the home’s sense of openness while maintaining the timeless quality of a space that feels as though it has always existed.
A subtle curved design language introduces character throughout, while thoughtful gestures such as a custom skylight introduce light, depth and unexpected joy.

When it comes to mid-century restoration, we tread a fine line — intentionally avoiding imitation while creating something new that still honours the past. That’s the sweet spot.
