The private residence renovation captures echoes of past glamour and reinterprets this legacy through a clean, open aesthetic. For the owner’s bi-coastal move to Los Angeles, this 1953 home in Los Feliz held an immediate resonance — its inherent mid-century character speaking to her from the outset.
The redesigned structure imagines an entirely new layout, complete with secluded landscaped moments that add narrative depth. Upon entry, a dramatic reveal unfolds as the space opens to a subtly recessed living room, framed by an original sawtooth roof whose horizontal expanse bridges interior and exterior seamlessly.
The seamless glass wall opens uninterrupted views onto the pool, creating family-friendly spaces for entertainment and relaxation. Throughout, the studio layered considered finishes — including stand-out mint-green bathrooms — that amplify the home's mid-century character. What emerges is a residence that honors its past while embracing new life, a structure that called out and now calls home.

One of the most interesting parts of any project is figuring out what people really, secretly want and who they secretly want to be. Sometimes true desire is hidden. Something about what a designer or architect is doing speaks to them.
